Very frequently, optical sorting occurs upstream of several processes sorting materials from one another – pre-sorting (physical separation, separation of fines, of ferrous metals and ballistic separation). But many small-sized fractions still remain after pre-selection.
This observation led the Pellenc ST teams to incorporate a metal detector into machines to sort ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
It is very precise and allows for 95% of the remaining ferrous metals to be separated.
This option is essential for Recycling Facilities (sorting PET and PEHD) and an indispensable stage in the biological and energy recovery process
